Thank you Paula. the whole topic of environmental conservation is rather depressing. I know that here in New South Wales all the forest areas that are not National parks get logged every 40 years and many areas are subjected to canopy thinning as often as ever 10 years. I have no idea how this is supposed to translate as sustainable and environmentally aware forestry. It takes much longer than 40 years to establish old growth forest, and there is no way tromping through every 10 years is going to be friendly to our multiple endangered species of plant and creature. We have so many very delicate, and area specific types too, in this harsh continent.
There is something about druidry that feels like home - a comfortable return to what is natural and right, a restoration of balance. it's early days for me, but I am very glad to be on this journey and look forward to the challenges and inspiration it brings.
Thank you for you welcome on the OBOD message board. I like your site and sentiment ,I hope the bardic journey is as rewrding and life enhancing as I believe it to be. I have just received my introductory pack and currently working through the Gwersi. How are you finding the course? I am finding it a grounding experience and hope it will help me to find my way in this world and filter out the bad stuff which we are bombarded with. I have just finsihed a course in Environmental Conservation which was pretty depressing so I would really like to feel positive again about the world we currently inhabit. I think also the work around the ancestors is helping me greatly, a knowledge that we can still gain wisdom and insight from our loved ones who are not in this realm I have found very reassuring. I recently visited a couple of spiritualist churches with my cousin but there something not quite right about the experience.
Since I have been reading about Druidry and studying the course material I feel much more aware of the seasons and of the Sun and Moon and of the comfort in the knowledge that we are all intergrated in the system of Gaia,we are all connected, observing the Sun dawning and setti
ng has given me a great feeling of comfort from the source of all life,we take it for granted ,I am least now appreciating how valuable the Sun is to our very existence. It's all good stuff. Good Luck with your Bardic journey and may it bring you inspraition and enlightenment.
Bright Blessings, Paula x
Hi, I have just snet you a message on Facebook. I love your sestina. needed some examples of the form for my poetry group last night, it's a shame I didn't find your wonderful example until today.
Can I borrow your example and show it to my group?
It's OK if you say no, but I think it would be useful for the others to see a good one.
Dragonwyst - I loved your pictures of dragons and general creative feel of the site. Your blog was interesting. I buy the UK Writers' and Artists' Year Book every year and write to newspapers, magazines, short story publishers and self-publish via Lulu etc. I'm working on the novel but only up to Chapter 3 (it takes so long and needs much dedication to complete a full length book). Please keep writing as I would love to revisit your site and follow your blog. I created one called "Scatterlings of South Africa" but haven't had much time to update it.
